Distking 0.1.6  -  Prime Entity
Hardstyle kick chain

WHAT IT IS
    Eight stages in a fixed order, and the order is the instrument:

        FILTER -> DISTORTION -> EQ -> DISTORTION -> EQ -> WAVE SHAPER -> EQ -> REVERB

    Everything up to the reverb runs inside one oversampled block, so the
    second distortion works on the first one's harmonics rather than on
    its aliasing. Put it on a kick channel.

    Easy shows four macros and the filter. Advanced shows the whole chain -
    click a stage in the strip to bring its controls up underneath.

INSTALLING
    Easiest: open Distking-0.1.6.pkg and follow the steps.

    By hand:  VST3              -> ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/
              Audio Unit        -> ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/
              Distking.app -> /Applications/

    Quit your DAW completely before testing - a running host keeps the
    previous plug-in binary in memory.

    Ableton:  Preferences > Plug-Ins > Rescan
    Logic: validates the Audio Unit on next launch

    The plug-in appears as: Prime Entity > Distking

FIRST LAUNCH
    The installer is not signed with an Apple Developer ID, so macOS will
    say it is from an unidentified developer. Right-click the .pkg and
    choose Open, then confirm. You only need to do this once.

    If you copy the plug-ins in by hand from this archive, clear the
    quarantine flag macOS puts on downloaded files:

        xattr -cr ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/Distking.vst3
        xattr -cr ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/Distking.component

REMOVING IT AGAIN
    Double-click "Uninstall Distking.command". It shows what it will
    remove and asks before touching anything, and asks separately before
    deleting your presets and licence.

    If macOS refuses to open it because it came from an unidentified
    developer, right-click it and choose Open. Or clear the flag:

        xattr -cr "Uninstall Distking.command"

    It removes Distking only. Other Folvk plug-ins are left alone.

PRESETS AND YOUR LICENCE
    ~/Documents/Prime Entity/Distking/Presets

    Created the first time you open the plug-in. A preset is every setting
    in the plug-in, and it is a plain file - back them up, or send one to
    somebody. Your .folvklicense goes in the folder above Presets.

A NOTE ON LEVELS
    This chain can make a kick a great deal louder than the one that went
    in. Auto Gain keeps each distortion roughly level with itself, and the
    Ceiling stops the output at the edge rather than squashing it - so if
    you are hitting it, turn something down rather than trusting the stop.
